The Diaspora
The Greek diaspora is one of the world's most geographically dispersed — with significant communities in Australia, the United States, Germany, the United Kingdom, Canada, and across Europe and the Middle East. Each community has its own character, shaped by the specific history of Greek migration to that country.
What unites them is a shared sense of Greek identity — expressed through language, food, religion, and a deep emotional connection to the homeland, whether experienced directly or inherited through family.
Identity
For many members of the diaspora, Greek identity is a complex and layered thing — shaped by the tension between the country of origin and the country of residence, between the Greece of memory and the Greece of today.
GREEX exists to hold that complexity with care — to celebrate the diversity of the Greek diaspora while affirming the shared heritage that connects Greeks everywhere.
