Hiking & Trekking
The Samaria Gorge in Crete — 16 kilometres through a dramatic limestone canyon — is one of Europe's great hikes. The E4 European long-distance path crosses Greece from the Peloponnese to Crete. Mount Olympus, the home of the gods, can be climbed in two days by fit walkers.
The Zagori region of Epirus — a network of 46 stone villages connected by ancient paths and arched bridges — is one of the most beautiful walking destinations in Europe.
Water Sports
Greece's geography makes it one of the world's great destinations for water sports. Paros and Rhodes are among Europe's top windsurfing destinations. The clear waters of the Aegean offer excellent diving and snorkelling. Kayaking around the coastlines of Kefalonia, Lefkada, and the Peloponnese reveals sea caves and coves inaccessible by land.
